Spark Plugs

Post by pouch »

For a 2.0 CU Aircooled engine.

Is it w8cc or w7cc and what is the difference.
Bosch dont seem to have either of these spark plugs on their site anymore, should I be using a more up to date plug?

It seems like different people have a different view?

Just taken some NGK plugs out of the old engine... :?

Martyn,

sparks - you will find that they want to sellyou the three or even four electrode variety now - which is why you can't get those codes! I have to sue the single electrodes for LPG (it doesn't like the triple ones)

My supplier informed me that the part numbers have changed, because the plugs have been upgraded...sommat new or better quality....must admit - have forgotten now exactly what was said, as I didn't want the triple point!!

Have you tried JK? At least that will give you the sparkplug number if nothing else.

Me thinks it is time to head to supplier and get a another couple of sets of single points...

take care

Cheers for that Em,

JK lists the W8cc for the 1600 Aircooled (but out of stock) and the W7cc for the 2.o Aircooled??

Heritage is the other way around as is our Wikki ??

I managed to find alternative parts from NGK & Champion, as well as bosch.. Just wondered what everyone else is doing?

I was told (by an expert at the pub ) that the triple electrodes run a lot hotter? I cant really imagine why, I suppose the more efficient the engine the hotter the combustion anyway?**

**Not that I actually have any idea..

tis the 7wcc that rings a bell with me... and 7wdc for the watercooled - I have only ever purchased off JK or B&B components in Maidstone...never used heritage

as for temps etc...Think I was told that LPG runs hotter than petrol - would make sense not to have 3 point electrodes then!!! Presumably 3 times the heat of a single electrode.....

But as a mere girly, I know nowt!!!

W8CC or W7CC no problems. Tiny temp difference that many other mfgs don't bother about.

Ok, I picked up some Bosch W7cc splugs for my Aircooled van from GSF.

Can we update the Wikki, as W8cc seem to be difficult to source now.
:D

Cheers

W7dtc was the wbx ones.. and I had no problems with triple electrode ones on LPG (myth)
Bosch have stopped making multi ones for certain ranges.. they use a different material.. originally they were for longer life.. nothing to do with "better/hotter" burns etc..

Simon,

thanks for that about the triple elctrodes.....but just so as people know, it was Gasure (Pete) that advised us to replace with single.

Well wouldnt want to argue with Pete, but from my experience of prob 150k miles on LPG they never caused a running issue... the important bit is to renew any ignition components that are of unknown age/quality.. new good quality leads help no end.....
