Battery help

ok few details first
Holdsworth villa 3 o.e wiring afaik
2nd battery under passenger seat(normal not lesuire type)afaik
zig unit (8)

Ok few problems firstly while camping i noticed my car radio (no ampfliefier,wired direct to lesuire battery new wires fused10 amp) kept turning itself on and off ,strange i thought!

run a new earth to vans fusebox earth by the way

Anyway got home and have wired radio to o.e radio loom all is fine!,
Now when i attatch car radio direct to 2nd(lesuire battery)nothing else connected to battery it cuts out ,plus with my propex issue i have come to one of 2 conclusions

1)second battery is shagged

2) its just gone flat

How can i tell if its just dead or flat

By the way ive tested and split charge is working at 14v ish so fine

Dont polish bateries,they dont like it, the electrolite reacts with the polish
