pump timing is correct, doesn't seem to beusing much oil, it is lumpy when smoking!!!

What is pump timing set too?

Are all glow plugs working?

well all glow plugs have power to them, i am starting to think that i have a bad one in there!

as soon as it's warm (2 mins) it doesn't smoke at all and runs like a dream!!!

Was the head new? Were the valve clearnes checked.

Now i would check plugs, then valve clearnaces, then advance the pump as a trial.
