Barrels and pistons

Post by Bosun20 »

Trying to get some barrels and pistons for a 2.1 MV engine.
GSF only do these for a 2.1 DJ engine.
The problem is the DJ has a 10.0:1 compression ratio and the MV has a 9.0:1 compression ratio. All i can work out is the pistons are different.
Does anyone know if these will work and what, if any, alterations i would have to do, ie ignition timing etc.

Cheers.

No disrespect.
Is this an educated guess.
This engine has cost a lot money to build at the mo.
I don`t want to cause myself anymore head aches.

Pistons

How badly worn are the pistons
If they look in good nick, barrels and new piston rings would get around the issue.

I had thought of that as an option.
I think i`ve a crack in a liner and the pistons looked OK.
I was wondering if i could bring the power up if i fitted the other pistons.

SHould work fine, just time as standard (DJ's run fine on 95UL at 5deg BTDC) should give you a little extra torque and bhp.. Assuming its still going to run the MV injection and lambda controls...
