Hi - I am looking to buy a camper van T25. I used to own a type 2 camper many moons ago.
I have found a 1600 air cooled camper, that is within my buget (£2,500).
Am I wasting my time as this van will be totally under powered?
Should I wait and try and get a 2Ltr model?
Planning a trip to France for Summer...
I have not seen/driven the van yet. Pictures look o.k. Got a full MOT.
Looked at wiki and seems i need to check for RUST, Dodgy HEAT Exchanges, Whiring Gear Boxes, Rusty Floor Panels, Rust around windows...
Am I wasting my time and should just spend the money on flying to France and staying in a really nice Hotel (Ha Ha)....
Any advice greatly appreciated.

If you dont mind the snails pace, then this will be fine, and spares and repairs will be much more affordable than running the bigger engines. Plus better fuel economy than the bigger engines. Because people generally want the bigger engines you should be able to barter a good price. if it's a good one then I would go for it, just dont enter into "run what you brung" at santa pod.

My 1600 is fine and has done 65mph on the M3 going south. I occasionally struggle with wife and 3 kids going to wittering up those damn hills, but then you do learn the knack of driving it to cope.
Cope with the hills that is!!
Got mine for £2k about a year ago, go for it.

Ah ha Snraem;
You would not be referring to the great leveller that is Duncton Hill on the A285 would you????
A brilliant test as to see how my old girl is running(not the wife).Flat out up hill in second 35-37 mph in my 2 a/c with only 2 kids 2 large dogs and a struggling wife
if I get a clear run up and not stuck behind some old dear in her Rover 200.
