Was told about this on a AA course i did and basicly it saves you having to replace the expensive fuse inside the unit if you forget to change the leads over after using it in amp metre mode to then use it in volts mode, use an in line fuse holder and a 7.5 amp fuse (the one inside the unit is 10 amp) then if you do blow it then you only need to replace a cheap car fuse, and the internal one is fine!!!

Alternatively, you could get the alternative lead set for the Fluke which are a fused lead set (GS38 compliant). Thes have an easily replacable fuse in each lead (similar dimensions to those found in a standard 13amp plug).
They are a straight replacement and practically identical and there's no chopping of cables. Downside.......they are a little expensive
