just bought a van that has a perkins prima engine fitted!
basically a montego turbo diesel!

guess what , apart from being a couple of inches too high and an inch too long it fits quite well , and goes well too! eassy adapter plate uses montego starter and clutch on vw diesel bell housing! not split to see what shaft set up is used tho!

will try ang get a pic (may bee wiki?)

For its time that engine was excellent apart from egr problems. First DI engine in a car.

Dare i admit it :shock: , i had a maestro once upon a time with td engine, it was a noisy all bag but reliable and economical almost bullet proof

Coh that brings back some memories.
My idiot old boss bough one from the block, that tube out of the sump was connected to a big long piece of rubber hose and run the length of the van, then then the breather bunged up!
Engine was shot and someone did that to disguise the fact it was a bit of a breather!
:lol:
It came to the workshop and was sat idling for a few minutes then we spotted the smoke from the back, followed the pipe right back to the engine, then we pulled the foam stuffed into the breather to block it to out!
then we removed the dipstick, clean, tried to put it back in, wouldn't go, yep, more sponge!
:lol:
We ended up rebuilding the engine, new pistons etc..

He didn't buy any more ex british gas vans after that.

Wouldnt do with that engine in surrey.The sleeping policeman would a sump & oil filter smashed into them. :lol:
