We only done a few hundred miles in the van but I thought better check the Oil before weekends run, so I had a quick look in the Haynes and I cant figure out where the picture is showing.
I had a look in the engine bay and can see anything immediately obvious so where the hell is it?
Pull down flap behind the number plate.
The oil fill tube 'inner' pulls out to extend and make topping up easier but a cut down lemonade bottle makes it less messy to direct poring.

my heart it feels a broken beat
Touched soul and hurt lay wounded deep

Back in the early days when our 87 Caravelle was new we took it abrord and came across some people who had a newly aquired T3 camper, automatic like ours. They said they'd already decided it was a great vehicle but the biggest design flaw was to check the oil level you had to unload the boot - anoying for a weekly inspection.
My Dad quickly clocked what they were doing, they were checking the Autobox dipstick that is in the engine bay, they hadn't found the service hatch - they liked it was even more once he pointed it out!
If its dark put the sidelamps on first and you'll find the service hatch becomes nicely iluminated too - they thought of everything!
Have you found the front screen wash filler yet? Thats well hidden too (under carpet, left hand footwell).
