2.0ltr Aircooled dellorto carbs - tinware question

Post by pouch »

Hi, just assembling my recon engine which will now be running on a pair of Dellorto DRLA 40's :D

Removed all the old tinware and had it blasted and powder coated, I am trying to decide what to do with the heated air supply which fed the air filter for the original solex's.

This is the round bit at the rear right of the engine bay. I dont need this bit as it will be impossible to feed through twin filters on the carbs. Can I remove the link duct (which is very rusty anyway) I preseum I would then cover over the 2 squre holes, 1 in the rear panel of the tinware and 1 in the reartinware surrounding the barrels next to the fuel pump?

I was concerned that closing the holes off will duct the heat elsewhere?
But where? and is that good or bad?
