Still wont start

Post by powelly »

OK got my jump starter from maplin, charged it over night and hooked it up, the van was clearly trying harder (could hear the starter turning slowly) but it still didn't start.

Ive put a multi meter across the batter and its reading about 11.5 volts, so Im guessing my best bet is to take it out and charge it, now in the other thread it was suggested that I could use an optimate from a bike.

So as I already have one of these will this be sufficient to charge the battery?

Please note : I havent got a clue what Im doing here :?

The optimate will be good for the battery, but it will need a lot of time to reach full conditions.

If you want fast progress then use a normal battery charger for a couple of hours.

I would be patient and connect the optimate up and leave to do its thing.
