I will look out for one then as my original alternator is useless. The headlights dim if I put the heater fan on. - might be another fault there mind you. Any VW do?

Im not sure. I went to the scrappy to replace mine the other week and ended up with one off a seat 1Y engine.

Mines a 70Amp so its not bad....

Yes and its total death normally when they go but can be very easily avoided.

The JX auxilary pulleys and belts will also greatly reduce chance of problems.
