Could be a good start into the T25 fold.. I would want to inspect closely the extent of that rust in the "B" pillar and if its in the seam in the arch behind... its not terminal but a pain to do...

worth going to look at and have a drive of.. bare in mind the running gear has the 227k on it, so unless its had a gearbox and the brakes/suspension renewed at some point in the past, they could well need doing too..

Yes B pillars are available from VW for around £60 but the welding will set you back another £150+ so check carefully! It is close to the jacking point so needs to be strong for MOT and to use the jack safely.

Sounds like a honest bloke and a pretty honest van. I like the fact that the van is in it's original paint and the present owner is not hideing anything. Not a bad starter van.

Thanks very much for the replies - really helpful and very reassuring and was in keeping with my own thoughts. I'll check the B pillar, though!
