IY 1.9/TD engine code question for turbo
Picked up a 1Y 1.9n caddy engine from the scrappy. Its done 70.000 miles it was tested running before removed .My van has a 1.6td motor .Initially i was thinking of a CS manifold&airbox setup and blanking off the turbo return on the sump then fitting it to the 1Y .On looking on the 1Y block its marked 1.9 D/TD .Reading through the forum some one said if a 1Y has the TD mark on its block then there are cooling jets. for a turbo set up.If this is correct i could use my existing manifold& turbo off the 1.6td to fit. Please can some one confirm this.

Yes but is going to be prone to boost leaks which won't do engine or turbo any good.
Depends how daft you go.
I don't do a full match port, but get somewhere near by grinding a 1.6TD inlet, not ideal but if done carefull it's fine and I've not had one back yet.
if it's a stock engine running stock boost i don't think theres a problem personally, theres still about 3-4mm of material left on the face between the edge and the port.
If you follow the shape of the port on the head, and transfer it to the inlet and do away with that useless blow off valve it will look like a nice conversion and the air box gets to stay in the JX position.
