took van in today for mot. failed said welding needed the words were excessive corroded nearside suspension component. In fact a tiny hole in the inner sill ajoining a chassis cross member couldn't even get my little finger in it. Also lower A pillar a small hole adjacent to the rubber drain plug which it says adversly affects braking or steering. I know they use computer codes to describe but I have seen more rust on other vehicles.
Oh well welder coming soon could have been worse as its not near petrol tank etc.
grr. mot

If it is any consolation we have 'R' soles at this end of the country who call themselves mechanics........
But we also have Mot stations who are sympathetic to the cause of owning older vehicles.........

amen to that, you have to find them through word and mouth, and I think if you are taking a general interest, and show some ability most of the silly stuff a picky tester would try and take on for themselves they trust you. I also have noticed that they do not say, "just windscreen wipers needed, do you want them on now then I can give you a ticket" mainly because they dont have that size already there
