totally rusted rear wheel arch

You can put in as many photos as you want. Some of your codes hadn't copied across acurately but I've tinkered with them, so we can see the other pics now.

thanks , why does my browser not paste the codes properly ?? Pic 5 is of below r+r bed ,removed ,under the water tank , tank removed , showing the front of engine bay within cabin , rust has come thru behind the lagging stuff held in by that wire clip thingy. I titled all the pics on flickr , thinking these would paste thru , but no, of course not , it`s TECHNOLOGICAL. My next user name will be luddite. Giving up on flickr and changhing to pbucket .
To return to the rust question , if you all had that amount of rust , would you give up and sell for "spares or repair " ?

don't be silly, get cracking and get it plated up!!

those areas behind the R&R bed just need rectangles cutting out with an angle grinder and sheet plates made to MIG over t'top.

Arches and seams a little more difficult but well worth saving. Where are you in the country??

Mr. Hutch , not even in the same country --- ! We are just north of inverness , and yer right , i must get on and mig it . Have ordered a mig from Steve , gettin ready for it all just now. Other problem is , just done a compression test to see if it really is worth it , of course the readings are way low, all about 7 bar ----(my tester is 30 y.old at least , so off to inv to buy a new drooper one , which is measured in bar and not perch/pole/rod/cubitts ). So may have to consider noo dg , from where ? , and gasure and s/s exhaust , adding up rapidly .

thats a shame, I'm learning to MIG and have a Bay project on the go as well.. Would have been cool to have you over to get some plates done! My wheelarches have to wait till summer I think.

Thank you ,all ,for helpful and optimistic replies ! i`ve got a mig , learned a bit , did a course , got a joggler and hole maker from frost -- only 5 mm hole , tho , bit small but "seams" to work haha

and have cut out lots of brown stuff then offered up the complete repair panel .
you will see from pic that it overlaps a lot , which is good becos i have rust above the arch seam ,and badly rusted inner arch . Funny , it`s only on the passenger (wife`s) side ??

-other arch is fine- oh ,and btw , autohomes did a v.good job with the waxoyl, the sills etc seem ok .and full of the stuff . A booger to get rid of prior to welding ,as i found out on the sliding door .

So -- i think i may do the crazy thing of cutting out the side panel above the rust , below the top line of the repair panel , and at the sides , and slide in the repair panel so it`s top two inches is covered by the side panel , then spot it up , then rebuild the inner arch out to the new panel -- geddit ? ??? ?? but will leave the end of the sill , and base of pillar , which are solid . phew

or should i just place it like in the pic , then v. carefully seam weld it along top and L side seams , and smooth it in somehow ??? j

looking good.. I would go for the seam approach, you can always grind and sand and fill after.

You should really try and get the new panel inside.
Otherwise you are going to have a hell of a lot of work hiding the join.

yeah inside if poss... a few plug welds to hold it in place, then seam/butt welds round the join.

bear in mind I'm no expert thou!
