Electronic ignition

Post by chrissiefiddle »

my van has a set of points and hubby is getting fed up continually changing and adjusting them. Any recommendations for the best kit to get for the 1600CT engine with a 009 disti?

what ! .... and deprive myself of the pleasure of wondering if i have enough gears to ascend that small slope :o
. or the joy of being a rolling road block when there's a beamer behind me
or attempting a hill and making that decision - shall we throw the kids out to gain height

hey, i even did 80mph once :D ok, it was downhill and i was slipstreaming a big lorry, but hey :D :D

its just a pain having to reset the points every 60 miles or so. :(

I get more pleasure than you, got a 1.6D hi top, I find that when seeking that bit extra speed, well when seeking any speed it helps to rock back and forth in your seat and also to sort of scrunch down to lower drag,!
by the way YGM

AS CJ SAys.. it would have had electronic dizzy from new..
There are a few "CT"'s still around so a good second hand system should be able to be found.. or use a 1.9 DG watercooled setup.. DONT use the 2L Aircooled or the 2.1 stuff, different advance curves..

USe all the "electronic" coil etc.. (maybe thats why its burning points, the electronic coil has a lot more power...)
