It's dying when at a standstill or coming down through the gears to a stop. Just replaced the carb with a lower mileage one- i was going to do this anyway but thought it'd clear the fault. Nope.
Starts easily- plenty fuel- filter clean and tank good.
Need to check if just when choke off but can't remember. all the pipes and vac hoses ok...
Ned to clean the contacts on ther choke and preheater as they were a bit green but since it was doing this with both carbs am not sure. (mind you connecting up dirty contacts to both carbs won't help tho will it?!!
)
cylindrical bit with wire plugged into it screwed into side of carb-idle shutoff valve--listen to it with an assistant turning ignition on &off--it should click--
Yeah i'd just learnt what that bitty was today. Problem is it was happening before i replaced carb and still is which poss suggests prob with the connectios. They were pretty groty. Shal have a bash and see what happens.--thanks
Vac pipes in the engine bay all look good. I'll need to trace the big one back and see....wasn't having any probs with cutting out when pumping the brake pedal tho...seemed sudden.
Sorted! Was just the idle speed set too low. Haynes had said it wasn't adjustable on the PE3 but the srew seemed to work for me. 3.25 turns did the trick.
