i have one of famous phil's kits and ive had nothing but problems
now im not saying that all of the kits are bad or anything like that so i dont want to get into a debate about the quality of kits,
im just stating that i personally have gotten through two clutches and two spigot bearings and a spigot oil seal since having the conversion.
this van has had everyone i know have a look at it too see what is wrong with it and it appears that nothing is wrong everytime its gone ive replaced everything to do with the clutch ive even had to re machine a vw flywheel as the bolt holes elongated on the vw part of the flywheel and the two flywheels were bashing against each other
im now in the process of sourcing a vw engine to go back to stock as im having so many problems
both myself and everyone else i know is at a loss to know whats up with the van but it just will not work
i have even replaced the clutch slave cylinder and the master cylinder just encase it was a pressure issue with the hydraulics
also on a side note the starter motor keeps coming out of allignment and you have to rock the van in gear to get it to line up again god knows why this is it doesnt happen all the time just random normally when you are not parked on a hill lol
and the motor is reefed up good and tight and there are no bad teeth on the flywheel
so in closing im at a loss if anyone has a vw lump for me then please do help me lol

That's why AAZ's are the ones, your best going to a scrappers for one or even better hear one running.
I bought an MOT failure off eBay for 200 notes m reg golf Rabbit Estate the car was fooked but the engine was sound its done 4 thou miles now.

I agree the AAZ is the ideal engine choice and fits with standard vw parts which can be sourced easily.

adapter
yes i would say thats one of phils kits but could'nt the seal of buggered up when the engine was fitted if the engine was allowed to hang on the shaft ( ie jack sliped = one buggered oil seal ) and the spring and any metal bits from the seal could put a groove in the shaft.

Falling of a jack could damage seal but it can be clearly seen the seal has been worn on one side which is an alightment problem.
