Westfalia pop top canvas problems

Post by sevy »

I got a JK canvas , ( i know i shouldnt have bothered) any way trying to fit it and it appears to be too small at the bottom bead, I started at the front and worked my way round to the back and its 2 " too small. Any advice please , Im going to take it off the front and sides and start at the back to see if i can get it to give a bit .

Im starting to wish Id bought one from go westy to be honest !!!

I hear you have to wet them well to make then a bit stretchy, then they dry tight as a ...... drum (bet you though I was going to say Yorkshireman didn`t you ) :D
Keep it real.

For what it's worth.......wetting will give you some slack. When I try to put the undercover on my boat I need to wet it first as otherwise theres no way it will fit on!
Good luck!

Ok , after much swearing, shouting, fags and a few cups of coffee, the canvas is on and looking spanking. What a bloody "pooh" job to do , and no I'm never doing it again. The trick is to put on the rear first then pull it tight to the front. the main problem is the bloody space to work in , Im 6' 2" and 18 stone so theres no room to swing around. Anyway Its done ready for Dub freeze so if anyone wants a new canvas , I have my old one as a pattern, ok.
