a quick buzzer/oil pressure question

Post by markeymagicbus »

hi all

i have fitted a dash pod to my 1.9 1987 type 25 gipsy it never had one before bought as a project, so its a bit of an unknown , basically the buzzer and oil light goes of once when i rev it .
i have looked everywhere for the second oil pressure switch , i believe it should be by the water pump ,

i have earthed out the sensor i can find and that didnt stop the buzzer or light , all i am worried about is i might have a dash pod that should be used with two switches and i only have one

hope that makes sense ,
now got a gipsy , and i love it

markey,

The second pressure switch should be on the rear of the crankcase below the oil pump.

If you just want to stop the buzzer and light, earthing the lead that would normally be attached to the second pressure switch should do the trick.
IIRC.

Marky,
Its years since I did anything to my van in that area, Haynes says it is necessary to unbolt and bend aside the 'Exhaust cover plate'

My van is tucked up in its garage loaded up with gear and surrounded with bits and bobs, so I can't get a look at much!

The second pressure switch works in the reverse sense to t'other. The contacts are open with no pressure and close when the pressure is normal, earthing the wire from the dash pod.

Wire is shown as brown at pressure switch, becoming yellow and connected to pin No. 12 in the 14 pin connector in the dash pod.

could you just take off n insulate the wires going to 12 n 14 on the multi plug under dash to remove the buzzer sound? :( :?

If you don't have a rev counter, you could remove the thin wire on the negative side of the coil. That kills the hidden counter that turns the buzzer on at 2000.

You will still have the underneath switch for when the pressure goes entirely.
