Turbo Diesel Engine - Battery Size

I have a 1990 Westfalia with a standard 1.6 Turbo Diesel motor. I need to change the engine battery and assume that the larger the capacity battery the better. At present there is a 65 amp battery which needs to be changed as the old one no longer holds it's charge. What is the largest dimension battery size that will fit into the engine bay? My local supermarket sells VARTA batteries , are these good and if so do you know what model and ampage will give me the best results?

A standard battery is fine if you have a leisure setup as well.
