CAMPSITES IN THE NEW FOREST / DORSET?

Post by stevecrane »

Trying to firm up our first family camping trip out in the van for the long Easter weekend and not looking at venturing too far away first of all. We're heading to the New Forest and will take in areas around Swanage too no doubt.

Just wondered if anyone had any site recommendations for us with two kids in tow - one 2 year old and a 7 month old? Don't really want a 'holiday park' to be honest but at the same time need a site with hook-up and a decent shower. A pub within walking distance is always a good look too. Looks like a 4 night stay is mandatory over this period.....looking at Red Shoot Camping site right now which looks a safe bet......any other recommendations?

Cheers

Steve

We always go to Roundhill. Lovely open site - plenty of sun - surrounded by trees. Long walks through the woods, cycling, plenty of room for kids to play. Ponies and donkeys roaming the site.

No showers just cubicles with hot water basins - but you can lock yourself in and do a strip wash! and no electric hook up.,...but this is what camping is about - none of the sanitised environment you get at other sites. Can't beat it!

No hook-up but Burnbake is a cracking site, especially for kids. Does get rammed-up in summer hols though, not sure about Easter?

Yes this is a great site. Nice views, clean site, good showers (free) and a pub/grub on site. + a well stocked shop.
