Removal of rear seatbelts

Post by mal0r »

All,

I did ask this question in a reply to someone else's post, but I think it actually qualifies as a whole new thread.

Does anyone have three-point rear seat-belts in the back of their T25? If they do, what is the non-roller and non-buckle end bolted into? At first, I thought it just bolted into the rear wheelarch, but on trying to loosen it, the bolt doesn't come up. Looking up through the wheelarch, I saw a bolt end that I expected to be dissappearing inside to where I was unscrewing it from. But it seems to be painted black and hasn't moved, even though I was puffing and panting moving the bolt only 1" turns at a time

Any help should secure a beer or so

The bolts are screwed into captive / welded nuts located on the underside of the angled flooring close to the top (i.e. where it flattens out to cover the engine).

see here

The bolt may be rusted or painted in it is unprotected underneath - yes it pokes out where you looked. But the surrounding metal can rust so if you put too much leverage on it, you may rip out the captive nut.

Hope this helps :D

Ah right - many thanks, well, I see JustKampers have new belts for £45 ish - and they extend to 376cm - I'll measure my old belts to see if they are long enough then. I did wonder if I can use the lap-belt in the middle for the child seat because it only converts the 3 point belt to a lap-belt anyway.

I'm aiming to have it sorted by DubFreeze, not long now!
