replacing an engine that has been lpg'd

Post by HT »

Hi,
I am tempted by the thought of converting my van to lpg. Just out of interest if I converted my engine then a year later it blew up or i decided to replace it for another reason would it make it much more complicated to replace or would it just be a case of getting the lpg system connected up to the new engine for a couple of hundred quid?
Thanks
HT

We have a 1.9 dg that has had an engine change on LPG. Not a difficult procedure at all.

Dunno about injection models though

if its a carb'd engine, you just lift the "mixer ring" off the top of the carb after removing the top of the air intake, and depending on where your petrol solenoid is mounted maybe unbolt it , thats it, all the rest is normal unplumbing of the water sytem and wiring , you shouldnt have to touch anything else on the lpg system .

if its injection, its basically the same, the lpg will be taken off at the same time you take the air intake stuff off, and you will need to unpplug the injector loom that belongs to the lpg system.

if its Aircooled, you will need to adittionally remove the exhaust probe, or swap silencers to keep the probe in the silencer off the original engine

if you can undertake a engine change none of this will be a issue to you.
