Cheers Weazelchin me ole wedgy mate.
As an aside, I think we have the most comprehensive 'hands on' instructions for applying this paint on 80/90. It took me flippin ages to put the WIKI piece together. Whats REALLY weird is its beginning to bounce back at me now as I keep meeting others that have done theirs!!

Have just bought a transporter van which is hand painted in nato army style matt green. cant afford to get it sprayed so thinking of following the advice here and rollering with same type of paint. its pretty clean but has one new panel (black) that needs covering and the rest could do with a freshen up.
Anyone know a good place to get matt green army vehicle style paint? i read elsewhere that adding yacht varnish (..!) 30/60 gives a better finish, more silky and better run-off, anyone confirm or deny this?
will post some 'after' pics if & when i've done it.
cheers

On the basis that combicolor is fine with white spirits as a thinner, I imagine there is scope to mix other things with this paint of same ilk. However, the properties may well be eroded. What you COULD do is simply roller with combicolor as outlined in my WIKI article then flat back with 800 - the finish is very very close to the matt finish you need and offers that same rust protection.
Not sure if anyone saw that AWFUL wheeler dealer episiode where they covered a T25 with vinyl instead of respraying it, but my jaw sank to the floor. Imagine the rust within a year or so!!!

Just get it flat and yes provide a key. No you don't need to do anything to existing paint otherwise, but primer helps highlight rough areas that need attention and how flat you've got it.
Fourth coat is the one that really starts to hide whats beneath. Its all in my WIKI article but happy to answer any specific questions.

Change of plan. Having read the wiki article completely, I'm going for it in the spring. Gonna use the dark blue rustoleum and do the whole thing. Will prime the odd black panel first (the rest is nato green matt).
Anyone else rollering this spring? Will post some pics when I get going. Gonna leave a week between coats as advised. I can't wait to get started and hope we get some good early spring weather.
I would just like to say that the article is WIKId and totally comprehensive. I wouldn't have dreamt of rollering my van before I read this.
Well done Covkid, a brill resource & great piece of work!

I got some from decor8 on Festival Park opposite the sentinel building. They only have the basic colours though.
