Exhausting puzzle

Post by madmyk »

Hmmmn, thats a good one! :?

I have a 1.6TD Westie 1986 (late).
It has the bottom half of a JP engine and the top half of something else.
It has a turbo.

It also has an exhaust that I cannot recognise???

Between the backbox and the turbo is what should be a straight pipe (according to all the pics I can find).

On mine, the pipe has a 'bulge', a sort of extra box built in (no joint, all one piece) that looks like a cat' with a heatshield on the outboard side.

I have searched suppliers, VW parts cats, JK pics and the like but cannot find anything similar.

It needs replacing (the whole pipe from the turbo back).

Anybody know what it is?
Anybody know what is likely to be a good relacement?

Thanking all Sherlocks in advance

Bugger!

Well done you two, and if you happen to know the lottery numbers for this coming draw..... :)

Need a bit of help here guys please, can anyone suggest a replacement that will be compatable (ie, a UK version that will work with the engine) or do I need to obtain like for like?

Thanks chaps

Kev,
Ta for the reply.

Q? Will that affect 'engine tuning' (will I need to have the donk 'set up' again to make up for [presumed] lack of back pressure?)

Q? Should it be ok with emmisions test?

Thanks chaps,
