Hiya,
Just been checking things out to try and identify a slight delay followed by a thud when going from engine braking to acceleration, and so far have found slight lateral play on rear inner cv, offside. and about 2mm of rotational freeplay on the propshaft...
Which do I need to worry about most, and is the inner cv the same part as for a 2wd van?
searced threads and wiki but to no avail...

Are you sure thats not the normal diff backlash (ie play thats ment to be there)? If it rocks enough to move a couple of mm on the edge of the mounting flanges but the prop joints don't have play then I'd have thought that was pretty normal - Diffs have to have a small emount of backlash in them, though you obveously won't want it excessive. Same goes for CV joints, they shouldn't have any play in the joint itself but the diff its conected to will have a small detectable bit of backlash in it.
Might be worth checking all the bolts are torqued up properly and that all the UJ/CV's are free from play but not binding eather - you might have to unbolt the prop to check this but a stiff joint will probubly vibrate.
The rear CV's are the same as a 2WD. Are all your tyres matched? Plays havoc with the joints otherwise, ie they don't last long.

Hiya,
Apologies for the number of questions....
If a couple of mm of rotation at the flange is acceptable for backlash in the diffs then I think I'm within acceptable limits there...
All the cv's seem ok on the waggle test with the exception of the offside inner rear which has just perceptable play... I'll have to test for tight spots at 1/2 term when I can work in the daylight...
How urgently do I need to change the cv that's got play? will it bu**er something else?
Oh and the tyres are all new winter tyres so no probs there.
Any other suggestions on the thunk? could hub backlash cause it?
what's the best way to test engine and gearbox mounts?
And to continue the stream of questions, what is the most likely suspect for a heavy vibration occuring at high ish revs, in or out of gear clutch up or down, but transmited to the clutch pedal most noticably, could it be the clutch?...
Sorry again for the big pile of questions, but you lot do seem to know a bit
