LOWERING INSURANCE WARNING READ THIS
I have lowered my van 45mm and had it set up at a 4 wheel tracking place and have retained the bill. I am insured with Adrian Flux . The van has just been converted to gas at gasure and they recommended I contact my insurers and tell them . Not a problem with the insurance company on the conversion. They asked me if that was the only modification and I mentioned the lowering . The insurance company will not cover me for the modification and Adrian flux have advised me not to drive the vehicle. They will have to get me another insurance company to insure me . The policy I have with Flux is a standard classic vehicle with a 6000 mile limit. It is the standard policy they offer to T25 drivers . So if you have this and have lowered your van check with them. I know its a pain and it will cost me money but should the worst happen I wouldn't have been insured and as we all know if they can get away with it they will.
I am surprised at flux's reaction and I hope its a mistake on their part . I asked if the standard VW30mm drop would invalidate the cover and they said yes . I will also have to send a copy of the bill to show the van has been professionally set up after the drop.
I read a lot of people on here drop their vans how many are NOT INSURED anymore
If anybody has had experience of this and sailed by with Adrian Flux could you let me know as they are going to phone in the morning to arrange new insurance . I will post on here after they have called.
Its easy and in many ways a natural reaction to not tell the insurance company when you modify your van but its only when it goes pear shaped you wish you had checked so be warned and make your own choice

Adrien Flux have put there prices up this year for sure over last year,
for one althought my policy has come they have increase the excess by £100.
I always tell them my van is lowered and they have been fine with that.
They have been assy with me over my insurance this year and i have had to spend many minutes talking to them.
I suggest to anybody to tell them if your van is lowered!
they have a free phone number btw 08000 83 88 33
They are not to bad for an insurance company but they seem to be lossing favour with the VW seen from threads on volkszone and the like. I belive they are trying to make more money, if you have problens keep naging them they will get there act together!

I had to fill in a few forms for Flux, to list the mods, like lowering, alloy wheels etc and who had fitted them. Also sent fotos of the relevant things they wanted for the agreed valuation, and I also sent extra pics. of things like a close-up on the tyre markings to show they were OK and the conversion plate (Westfalia) to show it was what it was supposed to be. They wanted a shot of the engine as well ?! `spose to see it was actually a VW diesel in there and not a V16 conversion with an MD680 in the back

Keep it real.

I thought gas tanks had to be a certain height off the ground or inside?
Having owned many modifed vehicles i would always really nag someone to inform the insurance company as its not so much the claim for your vehicle imagine you cripple someone and they wont pay out - you then have to personally which may mean being sued & loss of home etc..!

I must admit I always declare everything I have done on vehicles - I just think of the £millions - someone could claim if I hit them - and think I would rather the insurance pay out than work for nothing for the rest of my life - it is that simple.
I read recently about Motorcyclists complaining that insurance companies were telling them they weren't covered if they changed exhaust, wheels, tyres etc......seems pretty obvious to me - aiming to make bike faster, turn better, stick to the road better = more chance of accident (generalisation...I know)
