Can't stand this noise

Post by Neddy »

Hi,
Anyone had this, It's driving me nuts. I have a flapping noise from inside the dash on my T25. It sounds like a large piece of tape flapping in the wind, it starts at about 30mph & gets faster with speed. I've looked through any holes I can, ashtray etc, but no joy. Before I start ripping out the dash I thought I ask you guys.

Chances are it will be your speedo cable, try starting there.

Maybe its something stuck in your fresh air vents, like a leaf or something.

Had this happen to me once or twice, didn't do it all the time, just when it was very windy :x

Turned out it was the wire to the passenger door speaker being rattled about by the wind between the door and where it comes out of the dash :|

Oh hang on, I remember I had this problem on my Opel combo. It was the plastic sheet lining behind the door card that kept out moisture that had ripped and was flapping in the wind. Really bloody annoying.

Check the cardboard "deflectors" on the back of the grill, they become detached.. also there are bits of tape on seams behind the grill and these come unstuck and can flap...

Jon... I know what that is... its call a "wife".......
