What do people think about making a comprehensive list of garages around the country that we can call on if we're out and about and we get into trouble?
I suppose it's open to abuse insomuch as a garage could list themselves, but wouldn't it be handy to list your local garage so that someone who needs a garage could find a mechanic they could trust?
Does anyone think that might work and any ideas of how we could do it? Or am I being dumb?!

I think there is already a site that allows you to search for VW specialists in your area and the garages are rated by users... I can't remember for the life of me what it's called.
The problem with these is that the only people who review the garages tend to be the ones with an agenda... so lots of negatives from people who feel they've been diddled for any reason (whether or not the actually have) or lots of positives from people who are friends with the owner. Until you've got 50+ reviews from different people, you're probably not going to get a representative sample of what the garage is actually like.

VW do a comprehensive list. I ordered some headlamp adjusters on line & found a list & printed it out...its about 40 pages, all VW garages in UK.. Cant give the link though as I,m away from home...log onto a VW site & you should find it.
As for the independants , its a mtter of readin all the threads & Wiki & writing em down as I do..maybe someone will do it..got me thinking now as peeps are always looking for links etc.
Maybe I will make a go at it, but enough infor in 80-90 to keep you going, just gotta search for it..
