Carb/Oil/Air Filter Query

Post by Popeye- Doyle »

85 1.9DG petrol Westy Joker. (LPG conversion)

I have just replaced my air filter for the first time (had the van 3 years) and there is oil seeping from the carb to the air filter housing. Not a huge amount but enough to form a small puddle the size of a table spoon. I looked at the air filter a few months ago and there was no sign of oil then.
The engine is running ok, on gas.

Could there be a Problem?

Cheers

Not necessarily, the engine breaths through the oil tower to the air filter unit, during coldish weather the oil mist is a little denser than usual and will condensate in the air filter rather than being dragged through the carb. If you are worried about it get a garage to check the compressions and back pressure to see if you are getting any serious blow past the rings.
