V8 Coversion
Sorry havn`t been on here for a while due to illness in the family, but the boy is on the mend and the v8 T25 is back on the cards. I`ve still got more questions than answers at the moment so thought i`d pass a few by those who may know.
I have the engine being delivered next weekend its from a Leyland daf ex-police van, i have manage to contact a company in Germany that can provide me with an adapter plate and flywheel.
The main question i have at the moment is the Germans tell me that i will need a 228mm clutch for the fly-wheel,i currently have a 215mm on the old engine,i dont mind getting the 228 but will it fit?
I know this may be a daft question to those in the know, but never had much to with clutches and stuff, coversions i`ve done in the past didn`t involve vw`s.
As always any help and advice greatfully recieved.

Have gone down the American route, spoke to a very nice lady at Kennedy Engineering in California this evening, and they really know there stuff. So i`ve ordered a kit from them, works out at the same price as the one from Germany, but its complete and as they spoke English, well sort of,i was able to ask them all the questions i was unable to ask the Gerry`s.
Not sure if anyones interested but i`ll throw together some posts and pics when i get started on the project.

Just another sting in the tail which you would probably not have been told about, when my kit arrived in uk, customs and excise snatched it and I had to pay just under £80 to get it from the currier.
Hope your manages to get through un-checked

I waited about 4 weeks, but can't remember the exact amount.
In relation to how good it is, I will find out next week when the cosworth engine returns from the rebuild shop.
I know when I unpacked it all the kit looks very good and it came with a comprehensive instruction booklet.
I will post some pictures of the kit at the start of the fit out during the fit out and after the fit out and write a bit of a report of how the fit out went.
The only thing that worries me about this conversion is that I did not purchase the support frame for the engine so I am going to have to fabricate one from scratch. Again I will post some piccies of it. I am thinking a welding a 8mm plate along each chassis leg to strengthen it up, I know winkler sells them but from the pictures I saw it did not light my fire in relation to holding a V6 engine.
Pictures will follow of work I have done.
Good luck with with your conversion and post some pictures up.

Well the adapter kit for my V8 turned up today, about time, it took 2 days from the U.S to the U.K but 10 days to get to Bristol, we have a postal sevice to be proud of,n`t. The good thing i did not have to pay any import duty just 18quid vat so i`m well happy. The build continues, just need an electric fuel pump and a 228mm clutch and some exhaust bits then can hopefully fire it up.!!??!!
