rock and roll bed

Post by spooky »

I bought a 3/4 r/r bed from Bluebird, (£225) about 18 months ago, it`s well made and went in with little trouble, the only thing my girls don`t like when sitting on it is the cushion retaining brackets stick in the back of their legs !, velcro and a hacksaw will fix it one day ! also it seems to create a lot of condensation on the melamine (type) surface under the cushions overnight, otherwise it`s great, very solid,
loud pipes save lives !

i have the bluebird one fitted and its very good. i have since seen the kw conversions one which i probably would go for if given the opportunity again. it has a mechanism where you can lift up the seat and it can stay lifted making access to under seat storage easier.

check them out at http://www.kwconversion.com/

they even do free fitting on it too! he seemed a very nice chap when i spoke to him at tatton park.

hello Spike,
I've got a JK full width, I just bought the brackets and made the rest myself. Took a while to work it all out as JK give very little info.
If you want to have a look I'm only in Burgess Hill.

rock and roll

charlotte is a 87 panel van converted by danbury in 87. the bed is like something i have never seen before and it is made up of domestic type hinges( for doors etc) its comfortable, easy to make up as a bed and easy to lift up to get into the engine hatch. i am planning to alter it slightly for a bit more space to accomadate the lpg tank but other than that its great. i could make a plan of it and some pics if you wanted to build somthing the same, i recon cost would be 50 quid or less depending on the ply you used.plus fabric.

The Bluebird bed is far superior in quality, a mate had a KW one and found it very flimsy the hinge mech fell apart in a very short time.

I use a table leg as a prop when I'm rummaging under mine, ooer!!

One thing that always p!sses me off about rock and roll beds is this business of the cushion that goes over the engine bay behind the seat obstructing the bed when trying to lay it flat. I end up having to lift up the cushion and then put down the bed, which is awkward, especialy when all the bedding and stuff is on top of the cushion in the back. Does anyone else find this?
