Late sliding door handles on early doors.

Post by soulstealer »

Does anyone know if later sliding door handles will fit my 82 Aircooled van?

I have seen a lot of later handles up for sale both second hand and new but can't seem to find any early ones anywhere.

I was out on a cruise this weekend and got to look at a few later T25's and other than being slightly shorter their doesn't seem to be too much difference. Any hel in solving this frustrating situation would be much appreciated.

If not does anyone have a nearside pre 82 sliding door handle for sale????

I can't give you a definitive answer, only that JustKampers list one handle for the entire model timespan. The one on their site is certainly different from the one that's just broken off mine!

hi

Post by billy739 »

they fit no problem ,i have done a few, only problem is they just rub the door skin a fraction, not enough to stop operation ,but enough to mark the paint.
never tried but its possible you coul space it with a washer.
keep an eye on auction sites ,they come up now and then , the last one i sold was as new, with 2 keys ,but went for £50 plus postage!

Or just file a bit off the end of the handle where it rubs and re-paint.

Got one these late handles on my 83 van. However, where it goers through the door skin therea bloody great big gap. Should there have been a rubber or seal or something ?
