Cold water on hot alu oil sump-likely to crack?

Hi guys, maybe a stupid question, but here it is:

I have a alu sump on my subaru in my Syncro. Is it likely to crack when doing vading and semi vading through half deep water(enough to at a short time cover/touch the alu sump)? I guess the alu contracts quicker that the rest of the engine when covered by water?
