OK - after a day trying to get the engine running properly with VW camperfan the other other week, we discovered the dizzy isn't 180 out - looks like it is 90 degrees out.
Didn't know that this was possible. But she has a very slight missfire, and stinks of gas at the exhasut end, much much more thatn the other vans, so sommat ain't right.
Mark tried valiantly to get the timeing right, but this proved impossible because of the arrangement of ditributor. He and John found the begiining of the compression stroke for number one.....shame it weren't right on the dissy...
so, the distributor shaft needs to come out.....but the bugger is in there pretty damn tight. Haynes refers to a specail tool or puller to get it out....(tried the trick with screw and rawl plug - wasn't having any of it!) so where do I get said tool from??
all help, as usual gratefully received!
thanks
Emma
