1600 turbo diesel v belt replacement

I have a 1600 turbo deisel and need to replace the v belts. I have the service manual which explains the proceedure but do I need a special tool like a large allen key to release the bolts holding the pulley together. If so can someone suggest where I might get one, if not what should I use.

you need a tool to lock the injection pump pulley and the cam shaft. A company called laser do one for about £10

Which belt are you relpacing? Altinator/waterpump V belt(s) or the toothed cam belt (hidden under the plastic covers)?

Cam belt needs some engine locking tools.

If it has a single V belt driving both the altinator and waterpump like my late JX (1.6TD) has all I needed was a couple of spanners to loosen the altinator mountings. 10mm or 13, can't remember which.

If its a twin V belt setup driving each ancilury seperately then I don't know whats envolved, not sure many turbos had that setup, though some manuals seem to think they all do.

all you need is a 6mm allen key and a couple of 13mm spaners .
the water pump pulley will spin when you try to undo the bolts,
top tip put the allen key across the center of the pulley if you can this will reduce the turning force .
