2.1 AND 1.9 COOLING SYSTEM
Bloody hell
the job of fitting a 2.1 into my van just gets worse. today i realised, to my complete
, my dg is an early one and the 2.1 is post 85 so have different cooling systems. can i swap them over. what else is different? should i now try and get a different engine
kev
Why pay someone else to fix it for you when you can waste 2 months doing it yourself!

You can swap it all across .... late>early>late, the basic engine's the same. The only thing I can think of which could be a problem is the oil cooler which has an extra water take-off on the water pump and on the lower part of the 2.1 thermostat body.
That being said I'm not aware of the benefits/disadvantages between the early and late systems, I guess they didn't change them for nothing though.
Ian.

you can keep your water system and run the choke feed through the oil cooler. The can coolant flow either way
you may want to increase the flow to No1 too by t- piecing a flow in as the heater matrix unless open reduces the flow to said bore.
Thats funny... I said that to someone the other day!!
