Screen Washer Prob

Post by andyhagerty »

Hi

My front screen washer has decided to "go west".

Re previous posts I have checked the contacts on the rhs stalk. I think they are ok, as the wipers work ok when I pull switch towards me. From what I can see this is the same feed as the washer pump.

Is this right, or am I leading myself up garden path.

Cheers

Andy

As above, check the pump. Dead easy to get to, 2 bolts and you can drop the bottle complete with pump. Cheap as well from local VW dealer.

We are having the exact same problem  The wipers come on when we pull the stalk but no pump. There is power getting to the connectors, pump works when off the van, so tomorrow I will check/clean the connections at the stalk end

Hi

Thanks for the confirmation. Nuts look quite rough, time for the WD40.

Cheers

Checked the connectors at stalk end, cleaned them and still wipers no washers  Then realised that the contacts were worn so had to bend slightly to achieve a good contact - and hey presto :D
