Alternator Problems Can anyone please help?

Post by jokerman »

Hello,

I have recently purchased a syncro singlecab. The alternator seems to have been botched together with a couple of bolts. It was out of alignment and I'm convinced this is incorrect. Can anyone please advise me on what this fitting should look like? Does anyone have the correct fitting which I could buy from them? Would like to get this sorted over crimbo... See the link below.

Happy Xmas everyone...

thats the wrong alternator. It should have 1 bolt that goes through the black bracket and alternator should fit between the 2 holes on black bracket, rather than 2 small lugs on alternator it should be 1 big one.

Would that explain why there is a small wire next to it not connected to anything? (and the rev counter does'nt work?)

Though I haven't tried it yet it's still in a box, I got one from a guy on ebay last week, a reconditioned unit (90amp for my jx) this guy trades on ebay using the name 'electrostart' he quoted me around £85 to recon my old unit. though I paid more so i could keep hold of my old one, so cost me £111 quid outright with no exchange.

Which was both cheaper than my local auto electrical firm and seventy notes better than just kampers......

may be worth a try though he did say he did n't have many on the shelf and would prefer to recondition customers units.

(took a while to identify it apparently his part number for this was a120)

Anyway hope I haven't just jinxed all chance of mine fitting

I think is like this:

http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/pict/13007 ... 4040_2.jpg

Is one "legged" instead two "legs" and that leg is installed between two legs on the engine block...

I think it should be better to post a pic... anyone has a pic with the alternator on the engine?

Got an alternator now, fitted and seems ok but the pulleys still don't line up correctly.
I think I'm going to have to take a look at another van when I get the chance.

Thanks all for your help.
