Diesel Smoking
Bus is running sweet as except for when accelarating hard, white smoke, fine with gentle touch on the pedal but try and push it and clouds of smoke. the pump timing has been checked and is OK, my question is has anybody any ideas whats wrong
. Is the pump worn and if so can I get new one or have mine reconditioned

tam is it running hot enough? i ask because with lorries if the engine is not up to full temperature they smoke white smoke as you describe (it's unburnt fuel) if it is running at the correct temp it shouldn't happen tho? have you noticed wether it got slightly worse since this cold snap started?
could be as simple as a new thermostat required?

A certain amount of smoke is normal. If I'm giving my engine a bit of welly I can clearly see the cloud of diesel smoke in the headlights of the car behind at night, and in the daytime it is visible but not as noticable. Then again, I doesn't matter cause usually when I accelerate like that I accelerate away from the cars behind me.

i dont think its the turbo cos if it was the oil seals it would be blue smoke and if the turbo wasn't supplying enough forced air it would be black.
it could be a cracked injector or a dribbly worn injector tam? what ever if its white smoke its either timing or unburned fuel. probably nothing to worry too much about since it must have passed the emissions for the mot but i know how these things can bug you
