Sorry no pic, but having just taken off the rear wheels I noticed 2 little bolt holes, next to where the wheel bolts stick out. What are they for and do they need to be filled ?!

If it's the ones I'm thinking of, they are just screw holes to hold the drum in place. I find the wheel nuts and wheel do a good job of holding mine in place, but I guess VW did it for a reason. Probably so they could attach the drum on one part of the assembly line, then adjust it on another without it falling off on the way?

I removed mine to fit my new mangle steel wheels!

Just be aware that when you take the wheel off the drum could fall off......unless your rust holds it on for you!!!! Mine's doing a fine job! John's needed a whack with a rubber mallet to loosen the drum once the bolts had been removed!!!

Have fun

Thanks....yes, I was removing alloys and putting on winter tyres/wheels. I didn't fit the alloys myself, but in my bag of nuts from the original wheels I found the four little bolts (which had obviously been removed to fit the alloys)...I figured if they weren't on with the alloys then they weren't needed with normal wheels, so reassembled without them...then had a nagging doubt that they might serve some function as I'm about to cross the Pyrenees (on the road mind..) ......but i changed the wheels without anything falling off, so, as mentioned, it must be the rust holding the drums on !!

thanks for the comments..
