i couldnt get on with car ramps - too much anxiety about 'slipping off' - ! - looking to the left and right and forwards and backwards - ended up with - a hydraulic jack (3 ton - alfords special) - and a pair of sturdy axle stands -

Owner of a red T25 fixed hi top campervan - colour - spikey red - petrol - water cooled - 1.9 dg engine rhd - 1990 g reg n still going strong!-

Ramps are good. Vehicle is safer on its wheels than perching on a jack or crappy car stand.

thats a good tip guz, i've also used a trolley jack to lift the van, and then shoved the ramps or one ramp under, longwinded p'raps, but pretty safe, after seeing a car i was underneath seconds earlier ,fall sideways off its totally inadequate scissor jack and squash the leaky fuel tank i'd just removed i tend to be very cautious and use axle stands, ramps ,chocks, spare wheel under vehichle as a failsafe etc..
i'll never venture under any vehicle unless i'm absolutely certain it can't drop on me. sorry but cheap axle stands are crap in my oppinion. ramps every time for me unless i need a wheel off then it's trolley jack and big chocks
LT owner and positively rattling around with the new found space

Without getting any 'clever' answers like -on the axle;
Where is the best place to position he axle stands when working on the engine end? how far in etc? Not looked under the van yet so a good description would be useful.

or from screwfix which are half the price of MM!
