Sump copper washers

Post by keytouch »

Wanting to do an oil change on my camper however i'm struggling to find the copper washer for the sump drain plug.

I have the 1600 n/a Diesel, CS engine

I have managed to locate them on Just Kampers however would rather not pay a fortune in postage for a 50p washer

GSF tld me they don't do them

Been to all my local motor factors (in or around Kingston, Surrey) however none of them know what I need, even Hellfords did'nt know. They all said they probably have them but if I couldn't tell them the size they couldn't help.

Can anyone tell me where I might get the right washer or at least tell me the size of the copper washer I need to ask for?

Your local dealer will have hundreds of them. 14mm unless its an early one which is 16mm.

Sorry forgot to mention it's an A reg 1983 model

Is that mm figure the internal diameter? Is there a particular width of washer?

It will be 16mm unless its ever had a new sump. 16mm internal thats all that matters.

the chap at gsf just told me they don't do them. argh.

Anyway, decided to have a drive to Just kampers this afternoon as it's only 40 mins from my work. Pick up a stock of them there and get myself a new sump gasket to try and eliminate areas where I might be losing the oil thats currently dripping into the big puddle of rain water under my car.

Yes but we dont all believe what GSF tell us now, do we? Of course they have them. Any motor factors do. Jut ask for a sump washer.

If I forget to buy one then this is what I do. I normally just hold the washer with a fork over the gas hob and that does it nicely.
