got my e-bay
12v buzzer and am intending to do the mod if it ever stops raining for long enough!
the buzzer (90db allegedly) is well loud, but a square of insulating tape over the hole in it has quietened it to just about right.
many thanks to all for this thread, i think its a worthwhile modification if it saves a flat battery and much embarassment :)
