Gear selection stiffer in cold weather....

is it normal for the gearshift to be a bit harder when the weather gets a bit baltic?? when first setting off with a cold engine.
its fine after a couple of miles, is it just down to the cold oil in the gearbox being a bit thicker?

I have the same problem. Just fired my van up after a week and it took ages to start. The battery seems fine, just took ages to cough and splutter into life. Took it for an hours spin, up to Ellon and back.

By the time I had done 5 miles or so the gear change was as sweet as. Still got a sticky clutch pedal tho. Going up the gears. Coming back down is fine *Scratches head*

spose the cold/thick oil prob is worse up there in the frozen north, mate

no vehicle likes standing unused for any length of time, even a week, especially in cold damp weather, shrieking belts, surface rust on brakes, clunky gears, seems to be the norm. best to keep using em at least once a week and going for a good run, must brave the cold and get the motorbike out for a spin before they start chucking salt on the roads

redline synthetic I have heard can improve the situation somewhat but be prepared to fork out about £50

mine does exactly the same too! Tis alright after a couple of miles like you say.
