ebberspacher do a water heater, ( i thinks its the D5) which is fitted on some VW MPV's it heats the coolant which gives the car a warm start, and also means the cars heater works without the engine running........not sure if webasto do the same , but no doubt they do.......

The Webasto heater will warm the waterways and make the engine warm but obviously not the oil.. but it means the heater will work soon as u start up if you programme it right..

some of the webasto units do this, have you already got a unit or are you looking to purchase? they use them in canal boats to run radiators instead of warming the engine!

Yeah, my webasto does the heater circuit.. does help e bit with warming then engine when starting but not much..

I cant get the timer to work.. have programmed the times into 1 and 2 but nothing happens.. is there a way of selecting timer 1 or 2?

I think the heater circuit control valves (in engine bay) could poss be removed and it plumbed in direct, it would take a lot longer to heat everything up though..

Is the clock time set ok ?

I've got instructions from previous owner appear to work:
I have to push the 2nd lever on the heating control to the far right , to operate a micro switch.
Turn fan on (1 position less battery power)
Press clock button set time using arrows
Press button 1 and set start time using arrows
Press button 2 and set stop time using arrows
Yellow light should be on to indicate system is operatiing, if not press 1 button momentarily.
press flame button once only
The heating should start when start time reached

instructions for use in Bentley manual, set time, ignition off, heater selecor to the right and fan switch to no1. There may be a reset button on the heater itself, also there are a couple of fuses in the black box on the bulkhead in the engine bay that may have blown.
My combustion air fan blew up due to the foam insulation in the inlet silencer degrading and falling in and blocking it up causing this fuse to blow, so check the foam is ok.

Combustion air fan from Webasto dealer is £300+ I got one of ebay, Its working but making a very strange noise!

Instructions can be downloaded from webasto site but they don't match up to the VW install Bentley manual is best

Also worth knowing if you dont already is that there are 4 relays behind your glove box along with a couple more fuses all related to the webasto
