Service Electrolux fridge?

Post by poshbuggers »

My sister has a Devon with the original Electrolux? Fridge fitted.

It certinly needs a check over and we had an issue (we assume with the ignitor unit) where there were sparks underneath.

Is there anyone on here who does servicing or can recommend a local company that will?

Thanks on her behalf,

Paul

Contact a caravan repairers--with a corgi reg. lpg gas appliance fitter-if it needs a new igniter they are about £60 iirc--it gives the fridge a new lease of life coldwise also if you remove & turn it upside down for a while--it should be looked at by a competant person if it aint been touched for years--faulty fridges running on gas have bin known to burn out the van--

I have images (12 pages) of the original Electrolux RM122 (probably same vintage) manual send me a PM or email to fiftyohm@btopenworld.com for the info..

Ignitors are massively overpriced at caravan dealers. Remove the old one and take it into a plumber's supplier (if they don't have them they will almost certainly tell you of a local supplier that does). They will usually be able to match it up with something in stock. I paid around £20 for mine.

I got quoted 70 odd squid for a service, my mate took his out and did it himself, but made sure he had a sniffer to chk for leaks, he did have to replace the pipe that runs behind the sink unit etc. as it was copper and snapped when he pulled the fridge out, he got flexi pipe from a local plummers. ignites first time now and super cold. Gonna look at mine when he's down next.
