chassis numbers
when looking at chassis no's after reading about cv boots etc, I checked my cn in log book. 25HG058783 Its 1987 but numbers dont seem to be similar to others ie starting with 24. I will check in daylight on the chassis member to see if it is correct - it had been cleaned and scraped there before I got 31/2 years ago, maybe it was read wrongly?

Bit confused by this, not entirely sure what you mean but chassis numbers with 24 are pick ups, 25 vans, combis and 'velles.

the 24 and 25 is an abbreviated version of VW's type number.
You will find that vw and others use the upto 24xxxxx and 24xxxxx onwards, where really they should use 24/25xxxxxx> etc.
if that makes sense.
