Eberspatcher as a gargage heater, need advice

Post by pouch »

I am just starting a project in the garage and am trying to stay warm!

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use my Eber B1l in the garage as a heater?

Not sure what to use as a small fuel tank?

The intake and exhaust will exit outside, I will run off a 12v conversion.

Any suggestions?

if you go to www.eberspacher.com and click on the support tab you will find the full tech manual for your model . i *think* there might be a min and max inlet/exhaust length that might scupper ya plans . dont suppose you have a thermostat/rheostat for a B1L for sale ? ive only got a timer :D

:?: bolt it straight to garage door and have it exit as you would in the van! use a 5l petrol can as fuel tank ( bit FFS make sure its all safe and ya not gonna trip over it and you have good escape routes - dont wanna turn ya garage into a homemade BBQ) maybe have tank outside ?
search on WIKI - there is a pic of one with a petrol can as a tank.
TBH for what you can sell an Eber for you can get one of those gas bottle type space heaters that would be alot safer :D

I dont think mine even has a timer, just on or off...
The wall is thin enough to drill straight through and use the orignial pipes, going to mount it side-on on a wall.

Well that is the current plan...

I'm sure it will work, but it might take awhile to heat up garage. Garage is much bigger then inside of van.

I agree with Elvis - for the money these go for, you may as well sell it and buy the proper tool for the job....

I doubt it will work that well anyway - its one thing heating up the inside of a draft free T25 - but another thing trying to heat up a drafty garage! Depends on the size of the garage i suppose.

Ok, I can see the arguments, but my favourite is spices in me socks :D

I have not decided to put the eber in the van or not as I am working on the old Aircooled rig with some success.

It would certainly be a lot easy to descent on the shops and spend £40 on a pwerful heater.

Thanks for the tips
